Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Theatre, a 1,788-seat theater situated in the heart of Central New York state, provides the region with an unique and historic venue for the performing and visual arts. Our programming includes silent and classic movies, live theatrical productions, musical concerts, and dance. The Capitol is the centerpiece of downtown Rome, NY, and we provide over 15,000 people with entertainment and smiles through over 100 performances per year.

The Capitol Theatre provides cultural and educational opportunities to the community through the performing and visual arts in Rome, NY’s historic 1928 theater.

Through unique, entertaining, and educational events in an historically restored theater, the Capitol will be a source of culture and community pride for Rome, Central New York and beyond.

ECONOMIC IMPACT
The Theatre offers an economic benefit of nearly $1M annually which helps generate and hold 25 non-theatre jobs in the Rome area.

OUR PROGRAMMING
We provide some of the most varied premier family entertainment in Central New York. Throughout the year, the Capitol Theatre hosts a multitude of both classic and modern offerings. Everything from the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra to Shakespeare—and even our own summer classic and silent film festival, Capitolfest—our programming appeals to audiences of all ages!
