Gold Town Nickelodeon

The Gold Town Nickelodeon is the only 35mm house in Alaska, making it well worth seeking out! Located in the heart of downtown Juneau, Gold Town is housed in the Emporium Mall, originally built in 1901 to house the Alaska Steam Laundry. In 1989 local filmmaker Lisle Hebert opened the movie theater as a venue for showing his short documentary on Juneau’s history, “Gold Town.” In 2002 he also began showing Art House films, and kept at it until 2009 when, he sold it to the current owners, who expanded the repertoire and schedule, and added a loge, stage, and live events. They continue to expand the nature and scope of the theater as much as possible, adding exciting and varied art programming not found anywhere else in the state.
