KAVI (National Audiovisual Institute) organizes regular film screenings at the Orion cinema in Helsinki. Archival series cover just about everything from the earliest examples of film history to the latest noteworthy releases: classics and forgotten gems, extensive retrospectives illuminating genre history and changing times.
Film concerts and other special events such as seminars and lectures have also attracted a wide following. In addition to Orion’s offerings KAVI’s screenings take place in nine other cities around the country.
The Orion beautiful art deco cinema which opened its doors in 1928 has 216 seats and modern technology to suit today’s screening demands. The most beautiful cinema in Helsinki hosts KAVI’s nearly 900 annual screenings. Get yourself acquainted with KAVI’s cinematheque program which covers just about everything: classics, rare gems, cinema history as well as recent releases.
